Interlaminar Epidural Steroid Injection (IESI)
Location: Cervical, Thoracic or Lumbar
Interlaminar epidural steroid injection (IESI) involves injecting steroid medication into your back, in the area between your spine and spinal cord. The medication helps to decrease inflammation and irritation of nerve roots or herniated disks. It can be used to help relieve pain from spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and other conditions.
Patients sometimes have temporary soreness at the injection site for a day or so, but typically report that their underlying pain starts to improve withing a few days of the injection. Results can vary depending on your unique situation. For chronic conditions, waiting three to six months or more between injections is common.
Our skilled pain management specialists can perform steroid injections at our on-site, state-of-the-art procedure center. Contact us today to learn more. We’re here to help you get your life back.
