Medial Branch Blocks (MBB)
Location: Back
A medial branch block is a type of spinal injection used to temporarily block the pain signals coming from the medial nerves. Medial nerves run through the facet joints at every spinal vertebral level. Facet joints allow for movement between vertebrae.
Medication is injected outside the joint space near the nerve that supplies the joint called the medial branch. A medial branch block can be used to help diagnose or pinpoint pain originating from a facet joint. This procedure may benefit patients with back pain due to arthritic changes in the facet joints or for those with mechanical low back pain.
Our skilled specialists can perform medial branch blocks at our on-site, state-of-the-art procedure center. Contact us today to learn more. We’re here to help you get your life back.
