Thanks to Dr. Noonan and the great staff at the NeuroSpine Institute!
While playing football for the University of Oregon from 1987 – 1991, I began to experience back pain. The pain continued after graduation, so I began exploring different therapy options. I tried chiropractic, acupuncture, spiral decompression, massage, and physical therapy, but nothing seemed to work.
I grew up heavily involved in athletics and enjoyed playing basketball, skiing, mountain biking, golfing and softball. Over the years I had to reduce or even eliminate those activities due to the pain they left me in for several days after playing. It got to the point where I had trouble playing with, and picking up my two boys. I didn’t want them growing up with a dad that couldn’t play sports with them. That’s when I decided I needed to take action and consider back surgery.
After visiting with Dr. Noonan and getting an MRI, it was determined that I was suffering from a degenerative disc condition and the pain was caused from my vertebra rubbing against one another. I opted for a spinal fusion of the L-4 / L-5 vertebra. Within days of the surgery I could tell that I had made the right decision.
I lived in pain for 16 years before I finally decided to do something. Now I’m back to golfing, playing basketball, softball and all the activities I used to enjoy, but now I do them pain free and feel great the next day.
Thanks to Dr. Noonan and the great staff at the NeuroSpine Institute!
