A Clinic Just For Runners

by Dr. Greg Moore

Runners Clinic in Eugene OregonFor many of my patients, running is every bit as natural and elemental as walking. Experiencing an injury that keeps them from running comfortably can be painful, frustrating and commonly lead to other health and wellness issues. I know the truth of this firsthand. When a torn ACL kept me off the trail for over 6 months, my overall health – both mental and physical – suffered.

That is why I created The Runner’s Clinic here at the NeuroSpine. This is a place for runners at every level to receive world-class diagnosis, treatment, and more than ever, measures to prevent potential problems before they even occur.

Certainly, my goal was to create a space where any runner with an imbalance or injury could come to be treated, receive physical therapy, rehabilitate and heal.  But unlike some physicians, I believe we were born to run, and that most people can achieve a naturally correct and comfortable stride. I also believe that individual problems treated piecemeal and without regard to anatomy, form, and gait will eventually lead to further injury. Which is why The Runner’s Clinic is staffed with specialists and equipped with technology to not only effectively treat a patient’s present injury, but to locate, learn and imprint a naturally correct and comfortable stride.

Dartfish Gait Analysis

Dartfish Gait Analysis in Eugene OregonWe are proud and excited to bring to the Eugene/Springfield community a program that is state-of-the-art and used by professional athletes, from Olympic runners to race car drivers.  But, it’s not exclusive to the headliners, it can be used by student athletes, and mature patients who want to start moving again and just want to get their lives back.  Its applications are as wide open as the imagination, but at NeuroSpine, we’re starting with a focus on Track Town and those who love to run and walk.

WHAT IS IT?

Dartfish is a state-of-the-art digital video analysis system that can be used to enhance patients’ understanding of the recovery progress in all areas of physical therapy.  It doesn’t lie, what you see, is what you get. It connects two realities; what you think you are doing and what you are actually doing.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The true beauty of this simple concept is that a patient can immediately see what their body is doing and start making a change.  With the process of superimposing clips or by using side-by-side before and after comparisons, a patient can immediately see the progress of the treatment, make the healing process a lot faster and improve the patients’ treatment.

SAVE TIME AND MONEY

Dartfish is a customized program for each patient, thus the patient gets individualized attention.  It is easy to learn and use, which ultimately saves the patient time and money, in limiting the number of sessions required.

BONUS

If you have an I-Phone, you can record video of an athlete, in play and send it to the Dartfish for comparison
